After narrowly surviving a traumatic brain injury, macho pro boxer Eiji Adachi (Hidekazu Akai) puts his life on the line for another chance at boxing glory—vying for a comeback despite the seriousness of his condition. A hyper-masculine brute with a devil-may-care attitude, the hot-tempered Adachi starts again from the ground up, launching his own Osaka training gym with the hopes of returning to the ring. At times comically absurd, Sakamoto’s film brings a satirical yet bleak approach to the self-destructive nature of the boxer, further bolstered by the very fact that the film is based on the life and career of lead actor Akai himself.

In the 1930s, a schoolteacher named Gakuen, while searching for his missing friend Akira, comes upon a mysterious, drought-stricken village beside a pond. After asking for food from a beautiful young woman named Yuri, Gakuen discovers that she is married to Akira, who is also the keeper of the village bell. Unless it is struck three times a day, a spirit that dwells in the pond, the Dragon Princess, will flood the town and kill all its inhabitants. When the Dragon Princess receives an offer of marriage from a prince, she offers to leave the pond in exchange for a human sacrifice, and Yuri is chosen as the victim.
Ryukichi, the young master of a cosmetic wholesale dealer, leaves his wife and child to live with Choko, a popular geisha, with whom he has fallen in love. As a result, he is disowned by his father. For the sake of Ryukichi, who knows no trade by which he can support the two, Choko has to remain working as a geisha. Ryukichi, however, cannot break himself of his play-boy habits and spends Choko’s savings, which she had intended to use as capital to start a business…
Tora-san hears that his mother is still alive and returns to Tokyo to track her down. He discovers that she is a geisha who had had only a brief affair with his father. While visiting the family, he falls in love with Natsuko, the daughter of an old teacher.
Tora-San, an itinerant peddler who is thrown out of his father’s house twenty years before but reconnects with his aunt, uncle and sister Sakura. Tora wreaks some havoc in their lives, like getting drunk and silly at a marriage meeting.
