Chat Room

Hey guys,

So I thought it would be cool to have a chatroom on the site where people can interact with other film fans, ask for film recommendations and maybe also get some help finding a movie that’s hard to find, links are allowed to post on the chat BUT make sure the film you want is not available on Region 1 DVD, same rules as always.

Please keep politics and religion away from this chat. Also, there will not be any tolerance towards violent and/or racist messages so be nice, please.

Jon.

  • Jon : Welcome, @Raymond ! 🙂
  • Raymond : Just discovered this website and i'm quite thankful for it
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Heard there is a Friday the 13th movie marathon on my cable TV tonight. I was going to watch Children of the Corn but putting my profession aside it's objectively poor compared to classics such as Friday the 13th Part 2.
  • wayne : my request is Ivan,il figlio del diavolo bianco / Ivan,Son of White Devil 1953 Nadia Gray and Il Moschettiere Fantasma 1952 Rossana Podesta
  • Tom W. : Impressive
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Sent from my iPhone
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Tom - 8.4 feet tall.
  • Tom W. : Ok, if I can press you for an exact measurement.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Tom it's to dark. I can tell you tomorrrow.
  • Tom W. : Is it still growing? Can you check?
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Corn's growing tall and strong.
  • Gabrielle : @Jon I loved Abysmos de Paion, which was such an interesting take on a very familiar tale, Wieczne pretensje, which has made me more interested in Polish films, and Sandakan hachibanshokan bohkyo, which was so powerful.
  • Jon : @Rosie If there's a specific title that you're looking for that it's not on Youtube you can request it on the requests section.
  • Jon : @Rosie You can check the animation section here: http://rarefilmm.com/category/animation/ I will try to upload some more animation on the site I haven't uploaded much because I've found that most of what I have is already available on Youtube.
  • Rosie : Is there some old school animations here as well?
  • Jon : @Gabrielle That's great! I'm very glad to hear that. One of my goals with the site is to try to expand people's "taste" in cinema, there's so many gems out there that are criminally underseen that deserve a lot more recognition you know, which ones did you like the most of the ones you recently watched?
  • Gabrielle : @Jon If I haven't said it before, I want to thank you because there are so many movies I never even heard of before seeing them here that are now among my favorites!
  • Bill : No problem. Thanks a lot!
  • Jon : @Bill Hi Bill. Yes, I will upload that one this week, the timings of the subtitles are a bit off so I'm fixing that at the moment once it's done I'll upload it. Sorry for the delay.
  • Bill : Hi Jon, Are you still going to upload La Riffa, the first movie I requested when I made a donation? I'm pretty sure you said that you had it. In the meantime I've watched several of the films you've uploaded lately and they have been really good.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Tom no need to be fresh.
  • Jon : lol Tom
  • Tom : Wikipedia? Look it up on Google. Google? Look it up on the internet. The internet? It's the thing you're using right now. Just trying to be helpful.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Jon Happy Sunday. Although it's Monday now on the farm. Oops. Tom - what is wikipedia?
  • Tom : @Corn Farmer Joe. If you check the wikipedia page on AI Artificial Intelligence it'll explain that Kubrick carried out development for years but never got around to filming it, instead passing it on to Spielberg to shoot.
  • Gabrielle : @Jon Happy Sunday to you too!
  • Jon : Happy Sunday, everyone!
  • Corn Farmer Joe : I'm not asking for piracy of this film. I want to buy it on DVD Blue Ray
  • Corn Farmer Joe : His feature film version of A.I.
  • Maureen : @Corn Farmer Joe What do you mean his version? The film? He didn't cause he passed away. The script? I'm not sure had he wrote before his death
  • Gabrielle : @Eric I really hope you can find it. It sounds pretty nifty, actually. I wouldn't mind seeing it myself.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Does anyone know where I can screen Stanley Kubrick's version of A.I. ? Not the Spielburg version.
  • Eric : Okay, Jon and Gabrielle. Thanks so much for looking. If I hear of a link, I'll let you guys know.
  • Jon : Gabrielle is correct, no luck finding "Annapolis Farewell" as of yet, it looks like there aren't any bootlegs available for that film either so I'm afraid the chances of finding it are quite scarce 🙁
  • Gabrielle : @Eric, it's on the list of Wanted films here so I gather Jon hasn't located it yet, but I could be wrong.
  • Eric : Hello Jon, I really enjoyed the "Tom Brown at Culver" film you offered back in March. Do you have a similar film with Tom Brown called "Annapolis Farewell"? 1935.
  • BlauBlume : Glad to know your mom is OK now Jon. Welcome back.
  • Bill : Fallada's novel "The Drinker" was great. I own 4 of his other novels that I have yet to read.
  • Tom W. : Not sure how I came upon it, but I like Hans Fallada quite a bit. Sometimes I just click around on IMDB, excited about all there is to see, yet sad that 90% of it will be unavailable.
  • Bill : @Tom W. Thanks, how did you find out about it? Hardly anyone has seen it. Only 6 people on Letterboxd.
  • Gabrielle : @Jon I'm already enjoying the films you've uploaded. Thanks so much!
  • Jon : @Bill Yes, working on them right now, some films require more work than others (fixing subtitles and stuff), but they will be added soon.
  • Tom W. : @Bill, that was my request, glad you liked it 🙂
  • Bill : Hi Jon, Again, so glad that your mother is better! Are you adding the films that were requested when donations were made?
  • Jon : @Harriet Thank you! Thank you everyone for the support, I'm glad to be back here with all of you guys again, hope you enjoy the films I'll be posting this week on the site 🙂
  • Harriet : Jon, So glad to see you back, as it means the best thing of all: that your mother is home and doing better! Wonderful news, plus impressive new titles to look forward to watching!
  • Bill : I just watched the biopic on Hans Fallada that was just added. It's very good.
  • guest_8626 : Does anybody know of a movie that came out about 25 years ago. I believe it was Russian or Eastern European. The first or second scene in the film was a man that drove a car to a hill that had 5 or 6 very large tubes that a person could crawl in. That is all I remember, unfortunately. Any help on info will be appreciated very much.
  • Sammydfan1 : Glad to hear your Mom is better 🙂
  • Keith Hall : Glad to hear that your mother is home and doing well.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Awesome news
  • Jon : @Gabrielle Will do, thank you ! 😊
  • Gabrielle : @Jon This is terrific news. Wish her well for me.
  • Jon : Thanks guys! It is great news indeed I'm very happy and she also is quite happy to be back home, sleeping in her own bed and eating real food again :p
  • Bill : That's really great news, Jon!!
  • Maureen : Hello Jon! Glad to hear some good news about your family 😊
  • Tom W. : Glad to hear it Jon!
  • Gabrielle : @Jon Hurrah! I am so glad to hear the good news about your mother!
  • Jarvis : Hi Jon! All the best to you and your mum. I hope things are better now!
  • Jon : You guys know what that means, right? New movies soon! 😉
  • Jon : @James What a great actor Patrick Swayze was, Point Break one of my fav. movies. Thanks for the kind words, my mother's is out of the hospital and feeling better.
  • James : I watch a lot of movies, mostly all of the movies with my favorite actors, but there's always 1 or 2 from early in their career that i just can't find anywhere which is superrrr frustrating. BUT i just found "return of the rebels" with Patrick Swayze on this site which was the last film i needed to complete his filmography! Thanks Jon, and good luck to you and your mom.
  • Gabrielle : @Jon I hope your mother is doing better. You and she remain in my prayers.
  • Jon : @Tassos Thanks a lot, Tassos.
  • Tassos : Jon, my best wishes for your mother's recovery.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : What's every one watching?
  • Jon : Guys please let's not advertise sites who offer links to films that are widely available on DVD and even legal streaming services, thank you.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : We are rooting for you.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Jon thanks for posting that.
  • Jon : @Gabrielle Thank you dear
  • Gabrielle : Take however much time you need, Jon. Your family comes first. You and yours remain in my prayers.
  • Jon : Thanks for the support guys, I hope to be back uploading filmssoon.
  • Jon : according to this http://www.openculture.com/2016/10/14-hour-epic-film-dune-that-alejandro-jodorowsky-never-made.html Jodorowsky never made the film.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : I just took a click on that link Tom. This isn't the version that I was looking for. But thanks anyway 🙂
  • Corn Farmer Joe : So nobody has a VHS rip of Jodorowsky's version or anything?
  • Gabrielle : Wow, Tom. The cast is quite impressive.
  • Tom W. : This is happening though: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1160419/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_3
  • Tom W. : Not trolling, just stating the facts. I wish he made it though.
  • Gabrielle : There was, however, a Dune miniseries made for the Sci-Fi channel. It starred William Hurt and was directed by John Harrison.
  • Gabrielle : We were not trolling. Jodorowsky was never able to make his version of Dune. There was a recent documentary made about the failure to make the film. It's called Jodorowsky's Dune and it contains interviews with Jodorowsky and people involved in creating work for the project.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : I wasn't mad, but I would like to find a copy of Dune. I wasn't sure if you and Tom were trolling me or joking when you said it didn't exist?
  • Gabrielle : I was not trolling. I was honestly asking a question. I am very sorry that you consider that to be trolling.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : P.S. I am praying for you and your family Jon. Hang in there buddy.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : If anyone has Dune (not David Lynch's version) I would appreciate a share.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Tom and Gabrielle. Please do not troll.
  • kelpie : Greetings All. Can anyone give me any info on how to obtain a copy of 'Forced March 1989'
  • kelpie : Greetings All
  • Gabrielle : That's what I thought.
  • Tom W. : It wasn't made.
  • Gabrielle : I didn't think Jodorowsky's version of Dune was ever actually made. Am I wrong about that?
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Anyone have the uncut version of "Dune" directed by Jodorowsky? Not the David Lynch version.
  • Diana : Sorry--my message got cut off. I had requested it and Jon didn't have it and added it to the wanted list. I think it might be a lost film, but I'm not sure. Thanks!
  • Diana : Hi everyone.  I know this is a long shot, but I'm wondering if someone would have any information on or know where I might be able to track down a Spanish film from 1963 called Escala en Hi Fi.  I know it's based on a TV show that was almost like Spain's answer to American Bandstand (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).  The one thing that is noteworthy about this film is that it was the only film that Daniel Milland (son of Ray Milland) was in, and I've been interested in seeing it.  I re
  • guest_1945 : There's an english language version, as Notre Dame de Paris, on Amazon.fr. It may be region free.
  • guest_1945 : Ed of Ely
  • Keith Hall : Does anyone know where a quality print of the English version of the 1956 film The Hunchback Of Notre Dame with Anthony Quinn can be found ? The only one I've ever seen is on YouTube but the quality is poor and it is in about 15 pieces.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : It's just me and my chicken Sam Peckingpah on the farm and we sure are glad for rarefilmm.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Watching movies on this here site sure does beat watching the corn grow.
  • Jon : Anyway, I might buy some at some point to upload if I'm able to get a good deal buying several movies but not for now.
  • Jon : @Maureen Hi Maureen. I know that site, they have plenty of rare tv movies that I'd like to get but their prices are a bit ridiculous if you ask me, over $15 for unlicensed DVDs that they didn't pay a dime to get? and downloads are the same price, just outrageous. If they charged $5 for downloads I'd definitely buy some films, they would multiply they sales by a lot if they did that
  • Jon : Thanks a lot for the support with the donations guys you guys are incredible, really appreciate it. Will be posting some new films on the site today, stay tuned!
  • Jon : Hey everyone.
  • Jonathan Shapiro : Really looking for Robert Altman's The Laundromat (1985). A BetaCam screened at a retrospective of his work at Harvard. SOMEONE with HBO in 1985 must've taped this!
  • Jonathan Shapiro : Salutations everyone! Been checking out Jon's uploads for several years. Along with Cinefile Video in L.A. and the American Cinematheque, you've been the source of my film education
  • Jarvis : Jon, I sent a donation and an email a few minutes ago. Thanks for the great site!
  • Jarvis : Hi Jon and everyone!
  • Maureen : Hello, Jon. Have you checked online store truetvmovies.net? Cause there are lot of retro tv movies you can purchase or download films on the same price.
  • Jon : @arunavh Welcome!
  • Arunavh : good to know about this website
  • Arunavh : hi folks
  • Jon : Hello Daisy!
  • Daisy : Hello everybody
  • Jon : @Corn Farmer Joe Right! haha
  • Corn Farmer Joe : The nice thing about farming corn is that I never run out of pop corn.
  • Jon : @guest_7478 Thanks for the links ,are those your uploads? Would be great if you can upload on uloz instead, openload has a shit ton of ads it's so annoying.
  • John Wayne : Looking for old westerns, maybe somebody can help me.
  • guest_7478 : https://openload.co/f/wZJCv6UgnsI/Linda_Sara_1994_VHSRip.avi
  • guest_7478 : https://openload.co/f/ykQSOhlFWv4/Dios_Los_Cria_VHSRip_Puerto_Rico.avi
  • guest_7478 : https://openload.co/f/nyLFk8os5_4/La_Gran_Fiesta_1986_Raul_Julia_VHSRip_Puerto_Rico.avi
  • Tom W. : Oh awesome thanks! I will check them out soon!
  • Jon : I've also uploaded the early shorts by Makavejev there, note that they have no sound but it seems that that was the way they were made since they were amateur films
  • Jon : @Tom W: Thanks a lot for the donation. It kind of is, yeah, sometimes I upload there to make sure subtitles timings are OK or things like that
  • Jon : @Tom W: Hey Tom,
  • Tom W. : I see you found the Hans Fallada movie, thanks!! Is ok.ru like your staging site?
  • Maureen : @guest_8198 Vkontakte was also good archive of videos with films until the site redirect from Russian domain to European's and copyright strikes were happened.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : Get the pop corn ready
  • guest_8198 : Appreciated.
  • Jon : @guest_8198 that would be quite a find, I'll try my best, hopefully it's not lost.
  • guest_8198 : Look foreword to your future projects. My holy grail of rare tv is a series entitled "The Roaring Twenties" from the early 60s starring Dorothy Provine. Can't find it anywhere. Thanks again.
  • Jon : Yeah, good old Russians :p
  • guest_8198 : Oh wow thanks. Okru is so much better than YT.
  • Jon : @Vince same to you, Vince.
  • Jon : @guest_8198 You can also use this one https://okvid.download/ the okru links you need to enter you'll find them on my okru channel https://ok.ru/video/c1564326
  • Vince : Well, It was nice being here, good start I'd say, I am going to prepare dinner now, have fun and a good weekend!
  • guest_8198 : Discovered a much quicker and easier way to download your films. A website called 9xbuddy.com You just copy and paste your movie and usually loads in about 5 minutes. Files are also 80% smaller. Hope this helps some folks.
  • Jon : @Vince It's all good I also like talking about other things other than films, it can get boring after a while you know :p. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for stopping by the chat!
  • Vince : @ Jon: I hope you don't think I went too far off-topic, I know this chat is made for talk about movies, but I just am the human-interest-guy so I always remember those things. May you and she remain together for a long time to come.
  • Jon : not the US. We have free medical attention but as you can imagine it's not the best medical attention and you have to really push to get things done, (checkups, blood test etc), in many cases unless you have pretty much dying they wont treat you or they'll give you some painkillers and send you home
  • steevee : I'm sorry that your mother's chronic pain is so nebulous but serious. I don't know what country you live in. Regarding quality, affordable medical care, I hope it's not the US.
  • Jon : @guest_8198 Welcome! Thanks for the support!
  • Jon : (not very good quality)
  • Jon : @stevee Oh, yeah I think there's quite a bit of South American cinema on Youtube, most of it in very good quality but not that there are HD copies anyway, very few south american films seem to have been released in Bluray, especially old ones.
  • Jon : @Vince thank you, I hope that as well There's no other person I love more in my life than my mother, she's been through a lot but she's strong, I'm sure she'll get through it. It also affects me quite a bit, had to quit my job at the time when she started with health issues because I had to take care of her, we are a small family but we try to stay united for her.
  • guest_8198 : Hi. So appreciate all that you do.
  • steevee : Hi, no I should make it clear that we didn't screen those films from YouTube (or at all.) I just found it ironic that we needed to have 35mm prints shipped from South America but anyone could go to YouTube and click on them.
  • Vince : @ Jon, I know the situation, believe it or not, but even in Holland hospitals are not what they should be, but I wish that she gets some good treatment soon, pain is a terrible thing, and a mother is such a unique person.
  • Jon : @Vince Thanks for asking, my mother is still dealing with some health issues, she doesn't have a diagnosis on what is that pain that is bothering her, the doctors pretty much guess, could be something chronic, medical attention is quite poor in my country, but I'm hopeful that she will get better soon.
  • Jon : @stevee Haha, did you guys screened them directly from Youtube? That's pretty epic, but I'm pretty sure it happens quite often with rare films. I'm also pretty sure films I've uploaded here have been shown on schools and universities, I get a lot of visits for example from US universities.
  • steevee : I worked at a movie theater where we did a retrospective on a Brazilian director a few years ago. 2 of the prints didn't arrive in time, but I went on YouTube and found those films there!
  • Vince : @ Jon I see, btw, how is your mother's health? Better now?
  • Jon : @Vince for compatibility, all films are mp4 with aac audio so that you can download them and watch them directly on your cellphone, lcd, etc without the need to re convert to other format.
  • Vince : @ Jon : Why are all the movies you offer in MP4 format? In the old site you offered avi etc Uloz also supports them, has it to do with streaming them on ok.ru?
  • Jon : @Vince Thanks man, I'm always thinking new ideas to improve the site, that's the way to go I think otherwise you'll get stuck. I might have to change the layout also at some point, we'll see
  • Jon : they should take adventage of all the huge traffic you get for free on Youtube
  • Jon : @stevee The copyright issues on Youtube is a pain in the ass, I wish the copyright owners if they don't want to bother in releasing them on DVD would at least open an official Youtube channel and upload them there so that one can find them there you know
  • Jon : @stevee I'll upload some more Iranian films next month as I haven't uploaded many and they really deserve more attention. I'll slow down a bit with French and Japanese cinema as I feel I've uploaded a bit too much of that.
  • Vince : @ Jon Sounds promising! You are so full of ideas, you can really feel that you are the soul behind this whole thing! I think the more options users have the bigger the chance is that the site will get bigger...
  • steevee : Thanks for the South Korea and Iranian links. I wish pre-revolutionary Iranian films were more widely available in the US, and it's really frustrating that some have appeared in English subtitles and suddenly vanished from YouTube, seemingly at random.
  • Jon : my next idea, I don't know if it would be possible, at first glance it doesn't look like it's something you can add on a website and that's it most likely will require programming but it's a "random movie generator", just so if you don't know what to watch you can use this kind of roulette and it will pick a movie from all the movies on the site, randomly.
  • Jon : thanks man!
  • Vince : Hey Jonathan, good idea, this chat room!
  • Jon : Hey @Vince, what's up
  • Vince : Hey someone here
  • peekachuu : @Jon I've posted it as request. Thanks.
  • Vince : Hello from the Netherlands!
  • Jon : when it's two words such as West Germany, Czech Republic, etc, make sure to include a - in the middle otherwise it won't show anything
  • Jon : South Korea: http://rarefilmm.com/tag/south-korea/
  • Jon : @steevee Iran: http://rarefilmm.com/tag/iran/
  • steevee : One suggestion: the national cinema indexes seem to be incomplete. I've searched Korea and Iran, and films from those countries which I know this site is streaming don't turn up.
  • Corn Farmer Joe : I love this site for watching TV movies at my corn farm. If you can put up some films of John Sayles The Film Director please do so. Thank you Jon and God Bless.
  • Jon : @peekachuu That's a rare one and it seems that it has been released only on VCD (very poor quality), add it on the requests section and I'll upload it next month.
  • peekachuu : I hope someone can point me to the direction where I can acquire Diamond Hill (2000) by the Hong Kong director Soi Cheang. I have read exciting stuff about this film but it is really hard to find. David Bordwell seems to be a fan too.
  • peekachuu : Hello,
  • Jonathon : Just dropping a message here in the (very) unlikely event that someone knows where I might be able to track down the completely unfindable British bio-pic THE DARWIN ADVENTURE (1972) starring Nicholas Clay and Ian Richardson. I've given hope of realistically finding it, but thought I'd ask as you lot are kinda awesome with requests like this.
  • Jon : @guest_5399 Highly unlikely.
  • guest_5399 : Does anyone know if FISH AND MILLIGAN and 1966 short film is around anywhere?
  • Jon : @Hotsake I'm glad you like it! I think it's a nice add for the site.
  • Jon : Remember this site is only for rare and obscure movies so don't expect to find well known films
  • Jon : A director's index might be added in the future, if you want to search films from a particular director you can just put the director's name in the search bar and it will show you all the films available by that director, if nothing comes up means there's no films from that director available
  • BlauBlume : @Tom W a director index is a great idea.
  • Hotsake : I love the new rating feature
  • Tom W : Hi Jon, thanks for all of your work here, this site is so great! Is it possible to get a director index as well?
  • Jon : Hey there @peekachuu
  • peekachuu : Hello all
  • Jon : Thanks for the support, @Sammydfan1!
  • Sammydfan1 : This is awesome!
  • Jon : oh
  • Davidde 45 : I mean you can't mess with the video
  • Davidde 45 : I think that hide the download button so you can mess with the video it self
  • Jon : I use it for some of the films here that for some reason get blocked on ok.ru, they are less than 10 so I use it very rarely
  • Jon : I thought that was a good player
  • Jon : oh, doesn't work that well?
  • Davidde 45 : No i mean jpfilms.online site have good film but they stream the video with jwplayer
  • Jon : can't seem to understand, what does JW player have to do with downloading from uloz?
  • Davidde 45 : Jw player
  • Jon : jw?
  • Davidde 45 : But it's jw
  • Davidde 45 : Jpfilms.online and imovies.cc are good too
  • Jon : the resolution is much higher but the quality different is not that big compared to the difference in size, no point in downloading such big file
  • Davidde 45 : https://ulozto.net/file/vgVit3hBWLyq/1957-bakumatsu-taiyoden-the-sun-legend-of-the-end-of-the-tokugawa-era-yuzo-kawashima-mkv
  • Jon : they are not embedded
  • Jon : It contains czech subs but you can turn them off with the video player
  • Jon : https://ulozto.net/file/mbS0RUYUOvXg/bakumacu-taijoden-mu-mo-tai-yang-chuan-bakumatsu-taiyoden-the-sun-legend-of-the-end-of-the-tokugawa-era-1957-jpn-cz-tit-mkv
  • Jon : here's another copy only 1.2gb
  • Davidde 45 : If you search bakumatsu taiyoden film it's 4.6 gb in uloz
  • Jon : for which movie?
  • Davidde 45 : Why video in uloz is so big like it's almost 5gb
  • Jon : in some cases you can read they put "do not share outside here", I respect that, but other uploaders don't.
  • Jon : not really, it's not really their property you know
  • BlauBlume : And if the uploaders got some movies from the private tracker, would that put them in trouble? (just asking, since I just got here and have little ideas of how things work.)
  • BlauBlume : That's nice. I'd love to support this site in everyway I can. But would there be any legal ramnifications on your side? I think it's one thing to put these movies up for free, but it's another thing when it becomes a paid streaming site. I have no idea how things work there.
  • Jon : I plan on launching a subscription option on December which will be cheap, 7-8 usd a month and where you'll be able to download exclusive films and all the films from the site in high speed, so you don't have to pay for premiums.
  • Jon : (unless they get a take down request, but they don't delete for inactivity)
  • Jon : The reason I choose uloz instead of other hosts is because they simply don't delete files and there's very little ads.
  • Jon : All the downloads are on uloz, it's totally free to download, the speed is not that great but well, can't have everything in life :p. I don't think the premiums are very cheap there, there's no premium actually you only buy credits for example 50gb, once you've downloaded films for 50gb you need to purchase credit again, there's some kind of credit back program as well, for every 30gb downloaded you get 5gb back and it grows as you download more.
  • BlauBlume : Btw, it seems like the download links for many movies on this site are on uloz. Would you recommend to purchase a premium account there for faster downloads? I just knew about that site after coming here, I haven't explored it yet.
  • BlauBlume : P.S: I live in an Asian country so whichever site that's available worldwide is much appreciated.
  • BlauBlume : You're right Jon. It's pretty frustrating to see those great movies stashed away from the public eyes, but given there's been so many crackdowns on trackers, it makes sense that people would want to lay low as much as possible. Uploading movies which are not licensed where you live is a great idea, and I'm sure there are plenty of those for us to see.
  • Jon : there's a lot of great foreign streaming sites that offer many rarities such as France's "La cinetek" but I think it's only available on France or a very limited amount of countries
  • Jon : MUBI is amazing site, Criterion should do better in my opinion.
  • Jon : *in the US. Nothing guarantees that it won't get chased down but I think it lowers the risk a notch.
  • Jon : @BlauBlume, that's what got me into starting with the site, after years of using torrents and seeing that they were thousands only available there! How selfish of people to not make them available for everyone, I can understand that it is risky doing this and uploading on a private site is "safer" but it's not really all that safe anyway, there's been dozens of trackers taken down for copyright violations and that will probably continue, that's why I only upload films that are not on DVD in the
  • BlauBlume : Only good places I know of which offer a legal, open and consistent way to watch these movies are Criterion Channel (which isn't available for territories outside US) and mubi (great site, btw). It's great to know there's more, like your site.
  • BlauBlume : Thanks, Jon. Your site is a real godsend. Recently I got tired of the same old mainstream US movies and wanted to expand my knowledge on international cinema. It was quite disheartening when I found out these types of movies can be quite difficult to find outside of private trackers.
  • Jon : welcome aboard, @BlauBlume!
  • BlauBlume : Hi, I just got to know this site after stumbling into Jon's Twitter account. I just want to say thank you for making all these great movies available.
  • Jon : @stevee Yeah Steve, pretty ridiculous that neither of those two gems never got a home video release, I wish Criterion would make a bit of an effort to release them and not keep putting out the same stuff over and over again.
  • steevee : I was impressed by the recent Bresson uploads. FOUR NGHTS OF A DREAMER just seemed to drop out of sight in the US, apart from theatrical retrospectives, and then New Yorker Films' demise made LANCELOT unavailable.
  • Jon : @Jonathon Some MGM also I'm not able to upload, but there are exceptions so you could request MGM titles, I'll let you know if I can't upload that particular movie.
  • guest_8546 : Thanks so very much for this! Bravo, sir!
  • Jonathon : Just remind me Jon... I know there are films by certain studios you won't post any more as they seem to be monitoring and don't want their stuff on the site. I'm sure one was Warner Bros. Was there any other, or just them? (I ask merely so that I don't end up requesting any WB films - or others who won't let you post - in the future)
  • Jon : You're very welcome, Jonny. Happy to help, always.
  • Jonny : Hi Jon, just want to say a big thankyou for all the Shinji Somai stuff! Thought I'd never get to see 'Moving', it was amazing.
  • Jon : Private torrent sites is usually where all these rare movies are hiding, you just have to know where to look, but they are out there.
  • Davidde 45 : *your
  • Davidde 45 : Ya i mean you movies are so rare jon
  • guest_7343 : Hi Jon, you recently posted a movie that I've been looking for for over twenty years with no success. (Thanks for that, by the way!) How do you find these things? I'm so curious what other methods exist that I wasn't doing in my search.
  • Jon : Thanks, Michael. All thanks to the great people who request them! haha.
  • Michael : Jon you do have excellent Japanese films on Rarefilmm
  • guest_5087 : 123
  • Jon : test12
  • Jon : There's probably a lot of Japanese films on the russian site okru
  • Davidde 45 : Do you have japanese film site?
  • Davidde 45 : Do you japanese or iran film ,this all america
  • Jon : Here's one that several people I know use it, prettty good collection of films https://free-classic-movies.com/index.php
  • aisle3 : Great site, Jon. Been downloading a lot from you. Do you know of other free movie download sites?
  • Jon : it seems that being honest and transparent is rare nowadays, sad world.
  • Jon : just like there's people who fall for the IRS scam calls or the indian people who pretend they are microsoft.
  • Jon : yeah, sadly there's a lot of people who fall for that.
  • Jon : hopefully I'll be able to keep the site online for many years to come, I hate seeing people getting scammed, same could be said with those bootleg DVD sites asking you $25 for a movie they don't even have the rights to sell and then you'll be lucky if they even ship it to you.
  • Davidde 45 : Clickbait garbage showing a person talking like " if you want to watch this movie you need to click website down here bla bla bla " but who they try to fooling
  • Jon : I read on facebook a few days ago someone shared a link to a movie from here and they put "I don't know if you can watch there probably not, I can't believe it's free to watch", like pretty much everyone on the web asks you for money to watch a film :/
  • Jon : or both
  • Jon : yeah there's a lot of that on Youtube also, where they put "full movie" and it's not even a clip just a static image and they make you go to some random website where they'll likely ask you for money or send you virus
  • Davidde 45 : *I mean 20th century
  • Davidde 45 : First they show you movie player and thinking the movie can be play but they just showing mgm opening clip or 21 century
  • Jon : month*
  • Jon : premium = membership, say 15 to 20 usd per moth.
  • Jon : yeah, you go to the site to download like uloz where they ask you for captcha and all that but after you done everything it says for example "this file is over 1gb it's only available for premium", means you have to buy a premium to download!
  • Davidde 45 : Jon you mean a scam website asking you money first to watch
  • Jon : never heard of imovies, is it a foreign site it seems? where is it from?
  • Jon : there's some sites that wouldn't even let you download unless you pay! outrageous.
  • Davidde 45 : Have you ever try imovies?
  • Jon : jeez that's terrible
  • Michael : slow speed does not worry me unless like another site 18 hours to download part one of film
  • Jon : it also seems to be a great company to work in, if you have FB you can find their page, happy Czech people.
  • Jon : it's a really great site, the only bad side is probably the slow speed, but well, can't have everything in life.
  • Michael : always use uloz thanks to you
  • Jon : not only rare films but also very well known movies which have been released on DVD and Bluray, you didn't hear this from me 😉
  • Jon : I don't know if you knew this but you can search on uloz for movies there, on the search bar at the top, there's a lot of stuff on this site for free
  • Jon : there's also on uloz but seems to be a low resolution copy https://ulozto.net/file/BsUWHe6Sq/the-incredibly-strange-creatures-who-stopped-living-and-became-mixed-up-zombies-pres-multiload-cz-avi
  • Michael : youtube has a copy of The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies- when i have the nerve i download it
  • Jon : bad show?
  • Michael : seen it and bad
  • Jon : there's a tv show not sure if it's online or TV called Mystery Science Theater 3000 where they usually show all these really bad movies
  • Jon : the Schekler one is still available on DVD, 2004 edition but seems to be still in print https://www.amazon.com/Incredibly-Strange-Creatures-Stopped-Mixed-Up/dp/B0002JP2V6/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=The+Incredibly+Strange+Creatures+Who+Stopped+Living+And+Became+Mixed-Up+Zombies&qid=1568539737&s=entertainment-collectibles&sr=1-1-catcorr
  • Michael : fun bad
  • Jon : must be really bad!
  • Michael : or Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
  • Jon : 2.2 rating on IMDB haha
  • Michael : or The Horror of Party Beach (1964)
  • Michael : the one i love to see The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!? (1964)
  • Jon : Great, thanks a lot!
  • Michael : just downloaded Koritsia ston ilio and saw the star rating which i use after seeing the film
  • Jon : also, I've added a rating option for all the movies on the site, you can rate them from 1 to 5 stars, you will find this at the end of every post right below "Download this film"
  • Jon : Great
  • Michael : have not downloaded that one yet but i will soon.
  • Jon : There are some movies, horror movies for example that are so bad that become a must watch, for example this one http://rarefilmm.com/2019/09/demon-hunter-1965/
  • Michael : starting a discussion- there are a lots of bad films being made and many of them are pretty good bad films. Is there any bad films you would recommend to others
  • Jon : sup!
  • guest_9071 : Hey
  • guest_9071 : What up
  • Jon : I have the option to disable the sound completely for everyone, if people want I'll disable it.
  • Jon : Apparently you can just mute this tab on your browser if you use Chrome
  • Jon : mmm
  • guest_994 : test12
  • Jon : I have to figure how to get rid of this noise!
  • Jon : They will
