After a terrible accident, a psychiatrist has to help Bruce to regain his memory. In flashbacks, we learn that his family had to flee from New York City, after his father uncovered a large case of corruption. Bruce didn’t know this for most of his life, until he found a passport with a different name in it. After the first shock, he tries to continue living like a normal teenager. Unknowingly, his cute little girlfriend “Patrick” brings them in danger.

Bernie Fishbine is overweight. He stops at the neighborhood store to buy some chocolate kisses every day. This is where he meets Theresa Garabaldi. Then they take the same bus route every evening. Theresa invites Bernie to see her play piano at her father’s restaurant. It is here that she gets him to join a gym. Theresa is in college and gets the idea to write about Bernie’s weight problem for her thesis. She does this without telling Bernie. Meanwhile, Bernie is falling in love with Theresa, and vice versa.
Just days before her wedding, Beatrice-Joanna has a chance encounter with Alsemero, and realizes that she has met her one true love. To marry the man she loves, she persuades the love-struck henchman De Flores to murder her fiance, but does not anticipate the tragic consequences of her actions.
Movie version of the original TV series follows the show’s format of multiple stories blended together. The lead story involves the ship’s bookkeeper who becomes the driver by accident for a trio of jewel thieves. A suspended police lieutenant trails the group onto the boat in disguise. The ship’s captain, reclusive since his wife’s death, is pushed by his daughter to return to the hotel in Bermuda where the couple originally honeymooned. The new cruise director sets her eyes on a passenger who is a TV star, but another ship employee is interested in her.
