Malpertuis is the name of an old, rambling mansion which is in reality a labyrinth where characters from Greek mythology are imprisoned by the bedridden Cassavius. He manages to keep them (as well as his nephew and niece) prisoners even after his death, through a binding testament. As Jan, the nephew, unravels the mystery, he discovers that he cannot escape the house because Malpertuis is far more significant than he was led to believe.

One morning Jun gets into an angry argument with his father over his girlfriend whom his father disapproves of. In a fit of bloody rage, Jun kills his father. He decides to turn himself into the police, but his mother  stops him. Eerily calm after the shock, she suggests that they dispose of the body, and then move to another place where no one will know them. When Jun moves the body out of the house, his mother suddenly changes moods again and points a knife at him, as tragedy begets tragedy.

Ian Tracey plays 11-year-old Peter, who is plagued by demons and sent to an institution for setting fires. Peter escapes and hops a freight train headed into northern B.C. He is befriended by a native shaman or “dreamspeaker”. The shaman makes some strides but is unable to get to the root of Peter’s problems. Peter is captured by the police and taken back to the institution where he slides down even further.

A musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “The Old Curiosity Shop,” the film tells the story of Little Nell and her feckless grandfather who, in hopes of leaving Nell a sizable inheritance, has run up huge gambling debts to a heartless moneylender named Daniel Quilp. Quilp eventually seizes the old man’s junk shop, forcing Nell and her grandfather to eke out a miserable existence as paupers in the Midlands.

Duke Turnbeau has come to England, in the 1930s, as a way to improve his fortunes. For some reason, he believes that his larcenous ways will bring him prosperity in the country which at one time or another has had rulership over a large portion of the globe. While there, he meets Rosie McCratchit, a lovely Irish gal who could do with some improvement in her fortunes as well. Together, they have a series of legal, quasi-legal and definitely illegal adventures, including Duke’s cow-roping and Rosie’s response to the mud-wrestling challenge of the Amazon Lady, as well as an attempted armored-car robbery.
