Fifth short film directed by István Szabó. It was presented at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won a Special Award. There is practically no argument, because it is nothing more than an act of love for Cecília Esztergályos, who at that time was Szabó’s girlfriend.

Director: István Szabó.
Writer: István Szabó.
Stars: Cecília Esztergályos.
Cinematographer: Thomas Vámos (as Vámos Tamás).

Although this film didn’t have the nudity that I look for, it was very good. The young woman who was the main subject was absolutely cute!! And what really caught my eye and total approval was the fact that I didn’t see any females that weren’t wearing a dress or skirt, that was wonderful.

People make a lot of films. Some get to a big audience. They have a lot of money spent on making them a product that makes money. Most do, But not always. I watched ten minutes of this total rubbish and called it a day. Total bollocks.

Rubbish? Pointless? Have you fools never been in love with a beautiful woman?

Joe, I watched the film and didn’t think much of it. To answer your question – Yes. Also, it’s a bit condescending to call people “fools” just because they dislike a film that you liked.

I refereed to you in my last comment as ‘Joe’. I meant to say ‘Leo’.

You know what’s worse than condescension? Dismissiveness, ungratefulness, and tool-ishness. Jon spends countless hours finding and posting these films. Shitting on a 10-minute film deserves some opprobrium.

James, I didn’t like the film and posted so. How is that being ungrateful? Should I have lied, saying I loved it and given it full stars? I’m just being honest. I’m very grateful for this website and the many films that I’ve watched and enjoyed and posted positively about. I’ve no idea what you mean by “tool-ishness”. I posted how I felt about this particular film – that’s not “shitting” as you say on Jon’s great efforts. Do you expect every comment to be glowing? I don’t think you’re being fair at all here.
At the time of this post, the rating here is 3.7 from 11 votes – clearly not all liked it.

Reading the posts above, I’m glad at least that Leo gets it.

‘We walked up to the people and told them to fall in love. Some got scared and ran away, some slapped their forehead saying it hadn’t occurred to them, and some fell in love’. (Cecília Esztergályos 1968)
