Siss and Unn are two 11-year-old girls. An alluring contact develops between the two girls, a relationship filled with dawning anticipation and a tacit longing for warmth and tenderness. One evening they meet, and for the first time in their lives they are thrown into a strong emotional confrontation. The next day, Unn is unable to meet Siss again. Instead, she ventures alone into the cold, lonely winter landscape.

I’ve waited so long for this, especially in good quality. Not many people will give this film its deserved credit but it’s really one of the best fims ever and has one of the most unique atmospheres I’ve ever seen in a film.
The book is great, too, btw. Thanks for this.

enjoyed the novel a while ago but the movie disappointed me – too sentimental, although the choice of music and particularly its almost constant presence in the film certainly affected my impressions. i would have liked to have seen the film without any music, which i think would have far better complemented the spirit of the story.
