Nazis are sent to guard an old, mysterious fortress in a Romanian pass. One of them mistakenly releases an unknown force trapped within the walls. Here’s an interesting one, a raw and unrestored 35mm scan of THE KEEP, this film has only been released on DVD and Laserdisc, not available on Bluray and not on any streaming services either since around 2013 when it made a brief appeareance on Netflix, in a poor quality transfer btw. This copy is the best looking copy available we have atm, it hasn’t been restored in any way so you’ll see a lot of lines and scratches throughout the whole film but the quality is a lot better than what was available before, you can find some comparison screenshots here I used a HDTV rip for the comparison but both the Netflix and the DVDRip look pretty much the same, not very good at all. The audio on this restored copy isn’t great unfortunately, and it’s not very good on the other rips available either, I checked, I boosted it a bit with some filters, that’s the audio on the mp4 version but it’s still not great in parts I feel it’s still very quiet, on the 15gb mkv rip you have the original, unamplified FLAC audio and my boosted AAC audio track as a secondary track, so you can pick whichever you prefer to use. Thanks a lot to Lucasgodzilla for making this scan available for the community.

I adore this nonsensical film so much. Gorgeous cues from Tangerine Dream. I saw a 35mm print from the BFI that had fucked up audio in the first reel from sprocket damage

Looks like nobody ripped that one when it was online because it was SD, I found some screenshots on Twitter and it looks identifcal to the Via Vision DVD, inferior to this 35mm scan although some scenes have better colours since the 35mm hasn’t been color corrected. https://twitter.com/BrndnStrssng/status/1580378829264424960
