A doctor who is also a “mentalist” confesses to a murder. The only problem is that the murder he’s confessed to hasn’t happened yet–although dead bodies are now starting to turn up all over the place. A reporter sets out to solve the “mystery”.

Benny and Flo are a husband and wife dance team, Sloane and Darrel, traveling around the country as part of a revue. The revue gets picked up and taken to New York City, to be on Broadway. However, it quickly folds, and the two are forced to look for other employment. They eventually find work in a nightclub, becoming famous.But while performing at the nightclub, Flo becomes entranced by a young, sophisticated millionaire playboy, Winston.
Mary, the headstrong daughter of a New England shipping magnate, elopes to California in the 1860s with her father’s employee. The young pioneers face many hardships both on the journey west and after their arrival, as they create a life, a family and a future together.
In 1925, John becomes President of the prosperous Warren Bank when Maggie retires. Six years later, John, Helen and the two children are happy in their home, but the two mother-in-laws are still bickering. The titular hands belong to Lionel Barrymore, who plays a prominent defense attorney. To save his daughter from a cad, Barrymore murders the man and arranges to make the deed look like suicide. The victim’s mistress suspects foul play, but the lawyer has done his cover-up job too well. Barrymore very nearly pulls off his ruse–until the corpse itself has the “last word.”
While romancing a beautiful Russian countess, a captain in the Austrian intelligence service is assigned to capture “K-14”, a clever spy who has so far managed to remain undetected. What the captain doesn’t know is that he is actually closer to the spy than he realizes.
