Two bumbling “producers” are in danger of losing their company because they’re in hock up to their ears. In order to pay off their debts and in the process make some cash for themselves, they get the idea to bring an old cowboy star out of retirement to make a new western, insure him to the hilt, then give him all sorts of dangerous stunts and strenuous activities to do, hoping that the old codger will drop dead and they can collect on the insurance. However, the old codger proves to be a lot more resilient than they thought he was.

Rados is a young man who lives in the provinces of Yugoslavia and who has his heart set on becoming a great pianist making music for humanity, and nothing less than that. His companions at the Belgrade Academy of Music are not beset by the same economic deprivation as Rados, and they spend their time in effete pursuits, romantic liaisons, parties, and generally egocentric behavior. Rados’ simmering anger starts to heat up when he sees the enormous gap between the pretensions of the students and the nature of brilliantly composed music.

Cass, Rita, Sylvie, Virginia, and Yvette, are five beautiful Women’s Army Corps recruits attached to the United States Army’s 3rd Platoon of Alpha Company at Fort Jackson. Although they are raw recruits, their drill sergeant, Sgt. Reed sees them as future soldiers. The proposal relates the women’s efforts to train to become soldiers while also dealing with their personal problems. During and by the end of their basic training, they discover that a soldier’s life is more than a uniform and that strength doesn’t always depend on the size of their muscles.
In voice-over Eric M Nilsson discusses the choices people involved in the creation of films make, their attempts to create meaning and what the future may hold for the medium and its roll in society. The filmmaker juxtaposes a range of still and moving images, often in humorous ways, in this self-reflecting short film: “Making these images adds up to a total cost of 274 SEK per second, this regardless of quality”. The film was made as a part of the project ‘Sverige 80’, initiated by the Swedish Film Institute, aimed at supporting the creation of high-quality short films.
