Sonja is a German high school student who participates in a writing contest and endeavors to write an essay about her town’s history during the Third Reich and its resistance to it. To her dismay, and more so the town’s, she uncovers instead definite collaboration during the period. As she digs deeper, she must struggle against the town’s vocal and violent opposition to her search for the truth.

Patricia hears the voices of the band Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (D.A.F.), calling her to their concert. She makes her way there and tries to get in, despite the fact that she doesn’t have any money. Somehow she is buzzed into the backstage area though. Walking through the door, she finds herself in a shifted reality where violence blooms, blood flows easily and Patricia is hunted by something.

With his usual heterogeneous collage of images taken from real life, the film is structured in a sort of letter that a man writes to a woman called Rosa from Bulgaria and later from Czechoslovakia.

1865: Swiss captain Bluntschli fights as mercenary in the war between Bulgaria and Serbia. When his group’s attacked by a few Bulgarian troopers, he learns that he’s got the wrong ammunition for his cannon and has to flee. His flight leads him right into the bedroom of his enemy’s fiancée.
