  3. Utilizing the frequent pairing of Yûjirô Ishihara, Mie Kitahara – so vivid in one of the earliest Sun Tribe films, Crazed Fruit (1956) – here they are cast in quieter, thoughtful and complex roles, which have plenty of time to develop, alongside the parallel story of Ishihara’s illegitimate half-brother. And that’s only the tip of an iceberg of interesting characters. A truly great find. Thanks Jon!
