Amiel per la Pelle (Friends for Life) is largely told from a child’s-eye point of view. The heroes of the piece are Mario and Franco, young classmates and inseparable buddies. The main character is a bookkeeper, 40, who lives a quiet, uninteresting life with her husband and son of school age. It’s only when an embezzlement is discovered at the office and she stands up to her management, that she realizes life has more to offer.

On the farmhouse, Luis writes what appears at times to be both an autobiography and a novel. The book is played out, with memories of the past, such as when Luis walked out on his family and is mixed with fantasies about Elisa’s adult life as well as her failed marriage.
