Actually the comedy of unemployment, which is defined as possibly the worst, or maybe the best, thing that ever happened to this film’s group of protagonists: a middle-aged loan officer, his successful wife, a champion of professional joblessness (and mountain-climbing enthusiast), and the employment agency professional who falls passionately in love with him. This film’s honest work involves potatoes, ditch-diggers, a wheelbarrow, doomed love, jam in bed, and gunfire involving dueling employment agencies.

“Get my message!
Get it straight!
All I want’s a job and I ain’t gon’ wait!
I wanna job
I just wanna work
I don’t wanna play with you
No, no, I just wanna work with you
I don’t wanna socialize
I don’t wanna apologize
I have ten lovely kids
And a most beautiful wife…”
Comedie (Sorry, wrong keyboard for that aigu) du Travail is a great deal of fun! Thank you for it!
I wish that there was a source for the film that was not so heavily “improved” by a well-meaning amateur encoder. I tried to pretty it up a little for my own use but the over-sharpening ringa-ding-dinging would not go away without taking the details with it.
Nevertheless, it is watchable, and everyone should watch it, even if it doesn’t bring the worst of your French relatives to mind, which it does.
Thanx for this movie!
