Many thanks to Boran for contributing with properly synched and better quality English subtitles for this film.
I thought this (almost) scene-by-scene remake would make me angry but it didn’t. I found myself having a good time! Yes it’s laughably very bad, but it feels more like a fun game of “What if?”
When William Peter Blatty wrote “The exorcist”, his biggest fear was that the film would end up as an unintentional comedy which is why he was very careful about choosing which director to adapt his novel. What if a completely different director made a film of the same material? In this case from a Muslim background? Given the amazing fact that this was made by Metin Erksan ,who actually was a great filmmaker, the director of the 1967 masterpiece “Dry summer”, I suspect not only that he made this for the money but I also wonder if he perhaps made this as a joke?
Correction: “Dry summer” came out in 1963 not 1967 😉
