A look at some of the familiar and unfamiliar services provided by the Post Office, how it is done, who does it and what they think about it, whether it be a postmen in the Outer Hebrides, a sorter on the postal special out of Euston or an engineer supervising the working of a new automatic letter-facing machine.

After growing up on a racetrack and learning all she can about the details of horse racing, 11-year-old Danny wants to find the perfect racing horse for her uncle, Eddie. When she buys Tom Thumb, a purebred horse, she knows that he’s a champion that can launch her uncle’s racing career. But even as Danny and Eddie profit from Tom Thumb’s races, corrupt horse trainers attempt to ruin their chances by any means necessary.
MR. HEADMISTRESS is the story of Tucker, a small-time con man who has just been released from jail when he is accosted by two thugs who are intent on collecting a bad debt. The henchmen chase Tucker onto a departing train where he literally bumps into Naomi Bascombe, a renowned educator, initiating the con of his life by assuming her identity. Once at the school, Tucker soon realizes that he is onto the scam of his career when he learns that the school is set to receive a half million dollar donation… if the students’ grades improve.

The film tells about the relationship between brother and sister, as well as their loneliness and the need for warmth. Most of the action takes place in a modest apartment, in a gray, shabby tenement house. He will take care of her – he will feed her and make sure that she does not run away. Children spend long hours alone. They are waiting for someone to come, perhaps for their parents’ return, or on the contrary – they would like to leave the apartment. Outside the window you can hear free-flying pigeons. The boy and his little sister look longingly at the door. Time seems to pass so slowly…
Jailed ex-fighter Donavan Wallace strikes a deal with the prison warden for early parole – he is to go into a town to pick up a mysterious crate. He finds himself framed for the murder of a local waitress but before being thrown behind bars once again he is able to retrieve, and then hide, the crate. Donavan manages to break free from jail but finds himself pursued by various conspirators who are after the contents of the crate.
A dream-like story of a sleeping man whose body parts live their own lives at night to return to him in the morning – all except one leg which has chosen freedom. Its owner as well as a crowd of homeless men chase the leg, but it grows feathers and flies away as a bird. A grotesque tale with a poetic ending and with interesting music by Janusz Hajdun.
