When his father dies, young lad travels to Milan to attend the funeral and decides to follow in his father’s footsteps as a gigolo. He is successful at finding rich women to prey on, but finds himself caught up in a bidding war.

Two friends live by their wits working as comedians and cabaret at Cinecittà, before being invited to friends’ parties or masked balls during New Year’s Eve in Rome. The two, however, even though they make people laugh all the time in public, live an inner conflict, namely that the two have always to be aware to give a smile to someone, but they can never be rich and happy because they are street artists and with a precarious wage.
Three prisoners from a Nazi prison camp (an American, an Italian and a German deserter), are trying to make their way through Nazi occupied territory and over to freedom. Along the way, they encounter a group of resistance fighters trying to disrupt the German supply lines. In addition, they also hear about a priceless treasure hidden somewhere that the Nazis are searching for. What will win out, the desire for freedom, the desire for revenge or the desire for money?
In a small village in Sicily, the girl Assunta is seduced by Vincenzo. The man, however, runs away the day after they become lovers. According to the local traditions Assunta and her sisters are unable to marry unless someone in the family kills the offender and restores the honor of the family. She leaves for England where Vincenzo has fled. Assunta finds herself intimidated by the different culture, but resolutely travels to Edinburgh, Sheffield, Bath, and London in search of Vincenzo in order to kill him.

She finally takes a decision: she set up a lottery in which the prize is she. Twenty of the most influent man of the high society Bari (Italy), former Francesca’s husband friends, accept the rules and buy the tickets.
