After a shipwreck takes the lives of both his mother and father, Robby is saved from drowning by the young island native Friday. The Caucasian castaway and the young native become close friends and live together in a peaceful, idyllic co-existence that is underscored by their oblivion to racial stereotypes and prejudice. When a passerby novelist comes to the island and recognizes the wealthy boy, he takes both boys with him back to civilization. He promises they’ll remain together, but the viewer rightfully doubts his word, because when they arrive, the boys are separated due to society’s racial bigotry.

Great flim. Shows youths at it’s best.
The movie was great.
This had some beautiful and natural scenes in it. I imagine that it wasn’t shown in mainstream theaters, a real pity. I think that a bunch of this film is missing, especially after the man shows up. Like how did they go from a rather sparse existence to having that nice sailboat? A lot seems to be missing. But, I have been wanting to see this for a long time. The scenes of the boys living and subsisting with nature are beautiful.
I watched this again, and by often having to pause and resume the movie, I got a little more from it. There are more actors listed than we would have seen in the complete movie. I really appreciate being able to see it, even if parts were missing. I’m sure there are many who are against some of the scenes, but in my opinion that is what makes this movie so beautiful.
I am a fan of all movies which display the joys of young boys. I would greatly appreciate having a list of pertinent productions !!
I really like the film. Is the kid who protray Robby still alive today.
Cool movie
Wish I can see more boys movies just like this
Boys living carefree
This is my first one, I’m going to surf the internet to see if I can find more
All recommendations are welcome 👍🏼
I have watched this wonderful little movie before. The music is very nice, and there are some nice wildlife shots. Of course, the thing that I thoroughly approved of was the nudity. I have read a bit about the making of this movie, and it is quite interesting. The boys were quite comfortable with being nude, and even when they were not before the camera they were nude a lot of the time. A lot of the film crew decided that they would also spend a lot of the time nude. I think that is really neat!
