In Italy, gambler and poetry professor Daniele Dominici arrives in the seaside town of Rimini and is hired to teach for four months at a high school, replacing another teacher. His relationship with his partner Monica is in crisis and he spends most of the time with his new acquaintances and gamblers Giorgio Mosca, Marcello, and Gerardo Pavani. In the classroom he meets 19-year-old student Vanina Abati, who is Gerardo’s girlfriend, and they fall in love. Their relationship leads to a tragic end.

“It’s the best proof of me.” -Alain Delon about the film La Prima Notte De Quiete. This was an important film for him. Watching again is difficult because it deals with the most powerful human conditions, My favorite line: “I know from experience, it will pass. Everything passes.” -Daniele to his wife Monica (Lea Massari). I had tissues handy .because I know that Daniele was close to the complex real man,. To watch this performance tears me apart. Thank you for making this Italian masterpiece available as the English subtitled version keeps getting pulled from other sites.
