Renata and Carlo covet the same apartment in Rome. They first quarrel but Carlo finds an original way out: what if they married and shared the place? Renata agrees but on one condition: that she should be allowed to go on trying to find the man of her dreams. For a while suitors follow each other, each time ridiculed by Carlo. Things get harder however with Dino, a more serious rival. After dallying with the charming young man, Renata winds up realizing it is Carlo she really loves.

One of the rarest Linda Darnell movies. Now if you could find Angels of Darkness (“Donne Proibite”) that would be truly amazing!
Mildly diverting, reasonably polished production. Definitely a rarity. De Sica performs with effortless panache, Although Darnell’s dialogue is dubbed by someone else, the synchronization is perfect, indicating that Linda seems to have performed in Italian on set. Whether she did it phonetically or was actually proficient enough in the language to do it herself, my hat’s off to her. Both would have required skill and dedication. And the end result’s very accomplished.
