A microbiologist is trying the figure out the source of a bad odor that is spreading across New Belgrade blocks, having thought that it may be in a direct relation with a rampant suicide rate.

Short film about an unhappy but apparently very cold, attractive young who speaks with a strong Zagreb dialect, who in late 60’s sings in a R’N’R band in Belgrade, and who – in his own words “mimics lavish sexual life” and “is in search for oneself”. He is also not on the best terms with local the law police officers, and he used to borrow a revolver from his pal and carry it when on hanging around the hood on Sundays.
Dr. Helga Reinbeck is working as a nurse in Yugoslavia during World War II when she’s taken hostage by a group of rogue fighters. The nurse at first resists helping the guerrilla soldiers, who force her to care for their sick, but soon realizes it’s just as important to tend to these men as to her own people. When a German prisoner is brought to camp, he challenges her patriotism and, rattled by the charge, the nurse begins to question which side she should really be helping.
A group of railroad workers decide to make extra money by smuggling forbidden goods and engaging in other criminal activities. Inspector is discovering gang members one by one. One of the thieves is losing his nerves because ongoing investigation and he’s being pushed in front of the train. After his murder, the whole case is getting different dimension, and the investigation is more effective. All clues are leading to the leader of the gang.
The protagonist, Beli Bora Perjar, is a charming but mean-spirited gypsy, while his former affair, the kafana singer Lenče, is submissive. Bora is in love with the younger Tisa, who is being offered in marriage by her step-father. The two get themselves in trouble and eventually have to flee. Tisa rejects her husband and she and Bora get married in the church. Tisa tries to get to Belgrade, while Bora stabs a man in a knife fight. They are both, therefore, exiled from their Romani camp, yet their adventures continue.

The country is torn by revolt as Pugachev leads his Cossack rebels against the forces of the Czarina. As battles rage, the young lovers are caught in a web of deceit and treason, only to be spared at the end through the generosity of Pugachev, who goes to the gallows.
