Rita informs Leon that, as a lark, he stole a valuable necklace at a dinner party the night before and she will return it, but Leon remembers nothing about it. Just then, as Leon is taking the necklace out of his pocket, Mrs. Errol arrives with Barbara, her cousin and Barbara’s fiancee. Mrs. Errol decides to give the necklace to Barbara as a wedding present. Leon tells Rita he will retrieve the necklace and return it to her that night. That Leon ends up getting chased by a guard dog and accused by Dorothy of philandering and Rita is a crook is a foregone conclusion.

Newsreel cameraman Bob Clemens, an avowed woman hater, is assigned to cover the Lake Placid exhibition of Karen Vadja, the Swiss ice Queen. He misses his plane and fails to get the footage needed for a newsreel. Deciding that if you’ve seen one ice skater, you’ve seen them all, he goes to Central Park to film a skater picked at random. He selects Marie Bergin who is wanted by the immigration people for having over-stayed her visa.

Life on the home front during World War 2. Martha Dacre tries to keep her home running as normal, during the run up to the D Day landings. With several lodgers to contend with, and her son and daughter away serving in the Navy, she has chosen to stay as a housewife. When her son’s ship is damaged during the landings, she begins to regret, not taking a war job.
The wife of an alcoholic writer must take a job as a taxi driver to make ends meet. A young man she picks up as a fare befriends her, but when her husband is found murdered, the police suspect she and her new “friend” committed the murder.
When the showboat hits town, two men use the parade as a distraction to rob the bank. Their accomplice is Pop, the clown from the showboat. He leaves the money on the boat and tells his daughter Patsy to bring it to him at a later stop on the river. When Patsy arrives without the money, both her and her father are made prisoners. So she sends her trained dog back to the showboat for help.
In this interesting Italian WW II comedy-drama, the residents of a remote Italian village find their lives forever changed when two American GIs break out of a German prison camp and hide out in their town. The fugitives are harbored by a local family. This divides the town into those wanting to protect them and those fearing German retribution. When a young German officer arrives to watch the town, tension mounts.
A fisherman begins studying to be a doctor. Although he isn’t finished with medical school, he begins treating his landlady’s daughter who is believed to have a terminal illness. He seems to cure her, and the case draws a lot of attention, some of it negative because he was unlicensed when he treated her. He still does not have a degree when he marries the daughter and begins practising osteopathy.
