Hugh Mitchell is campaigning for Mayor of Lawtonville against the incumbent, Fulderwilder, but his having trouble with his son, Danny, who persists in telling lies. Trouble starts brewing when Danny, who is “assisting” the town’s new doctor, Antonia Cordell, slips his father’s campaign handbills into the envelopes containing the doctor’s announcement cards. Mayor Fulderwilder accuses Mitchell of complicity in the affair.

An oil company is exploring two Arctic sites for oil. The needed blasting at the first site rocks Santa Claus’ North Pole village. He realizes that any blasting at the second site will destroy his home. He enlists the aid of a woman and her children to convince her husband (who works for the company) that the first site is where the oil they want is. Along the way, Santa explains all his secrets in delivering presents all around the world.

Tim throws away a raw herring, which lands in the megaphone of a man, who is guiding British tourists in a channel boat. Confused he drops his walking stick into the water. The children later fishes it up and they discover that a valuable diamond bracelet was hidden inside. The guide actually belongs to a gang of diamond thieves.Β

Fearing that his recently-acquired step-mother, Ann Dennis, is competing with him for his father’s affections, and saddened by the death of his dog, young Danny Mitchell, in the first film of the long-running “Rusty” series, seeks consolation in the companionship of a ferocious, Nazi-trained police dog, Rusty, brought to the U.S. by a returning WWII-veteran. The step-mother, with tender understanding, eventually wins Danny over while Danny pacifies his new dog.

After a shipwreck takes the lives of both his mother and father, Robby is saved from drowning by the young island native Friday. The Caucasian castaway and the young native become close friends and live together in a peaceful, idyllic co-existence that is underscored by their oblivion to racial stereotypes and prejudice. When a passerby novelist comes to the island and recognizes the wealthy boy, he takes both boys with him back to civilization. He promises they’ll remain together, but the viewer rightfully doubts his word, because when they arrive, the boys are separated due to society’s racial bigotry.
