Adaptation of the poem about the gaucho Martín Fierro by Argentine writer José Hernández. When Martín Fierro returns to the family ranch, he finds it abandoned. He then remembers his peaceful life until he was forcibly recruited to serve in the border army, from which he ended up deserting. A voice-over recites Hernández’s verses, recounts the confrontations with the Indians and denounces the social injustices and authoritarianism that prevail with the most humble.
Jennifer Peters is a normal girl except for one unfortunate trait. All the women in her family stop any mechanical contrivance that they travel in. As the film progresses, Jennifer stops her boyfriend’s automobile, then a train she travels in without being aware of what she does. Tension mounts when a girlfriend takes ill and Jennifer takes her job; an air hostess on a Handley Page Halton aircraft, a civil conversion of the Handley Page Halifax, wartime bomber.
The film surreally describes the dynamics of the acquisition of power in the various historical periods, from prehistory to consumerism in contemporary Italy, passing through the Roman Empire, the conquest of the West at the expense of the native Indians, the fascist twenty years. The various scenes are commented by three beasts, a lion, a tiger and a leopard, representing military power, economic power, and agricultural power respectively.
Steven Brewster, a candidate for mayor is ran out of a Montana town when he is tricked into a gunfight and kills his opponent. He takes up with a a gang of badlands outlaws and takes part in robberies, and is wounded and captured , Friends rescue him and bring him back to Helena, where he is elected sheriff. When his old outlaw gang attacks the town, he cleans them up but persuades Susan Hammer, the daughter of Henry Hammer, leader of the gang, to come over to his side and marry him.

He then returns from war torn Europe to tell a family that their beloved son had died in his arms during a battle. The major then falls in love with the late soldier’s sister and decides to accept a position in town as the new police commissioner.
