Hi! Thanks for all these films.
This particular one – Turn of the Screw (1985) seems to have been deleted.
Would it be possible to re-upload it, please?
Thank you in advance!
Hey,
It’s up again now, thanks for letting me know!
Best,
Jon.
This film certainly has some problems, but for something that was never commercially released in the United States (usually a sign that something is wrong), it’s surprisingly good. Handsomely produced, perfectly cast and ratcheting up the perverse sexual themes in a way that Henry James or Jack Clayton could only have imagined–without becoming completely explicit. Some of the big moments we know from previous adaptations of “The Turn of the Screw” aren’t as expertly handled as they could have been, but there are other bits that Hitchcock or Polanski would have been proud of. The sound design is particularly effective.
