As a cruel joke, billionaire William Randolph Hughes planted a series of boxes around the Southwest, in the hopes that someone would find them. The first box told the discoverer that an enormous fortune was buried in a box somewhere, along with directions to the hiding place. When the box is uncovered, however, all it contains is instructions on how to find the next box, and so on. As luck would have it, the first box is discovered by several people at once, leading to a frantic chase from one hiding spot to the next in the hopes that one of them will finally hold the loot.

After a line of mischief Philip Gale, an American sailor, is lured into hiring on the “Yorikke”, a tramp cargo, by Lawski, a stoker from Poland. Still, the two become friends within the motley crew of losers from all nations. Gale and his new companion soon are more than disillusioned: the “Yorikke” is far from seaworthy and more of a coffin than a ship, work is close to slavery, and treatment by the officers and their subalterns is harsh and cynical. One day they make an alarming discovery in a tin of plum butter they have procured from the ship’s cargo…

The coming of the railroad to Cedar City spells the end of the stagecoach as the government gives the mail contract to the fastest means of delivery. McCord loses the stagecoach line gambling with the new buyer, but has enough hidden money to buy a ranch and some cattle. To make more money, he starts a gang to rob the railroad, express offices and steal cattle. But the railroads send out special agent Cameron to end his reign of violence.

This haunting installment contains a solitary wood chair with headphones attached, facing a television monitor. A man (the artist himself), looking visibly fatigued, appears on the screen, sitting in his own chair. Here, the artist compels viewers into an intimate relationship: they sit at eye level with him, listening to the sound of his breathing through the headphones.
