Note: How about this for a tribute to Gary Cooper on the day of his 120th birthday?! An incredibly rare film that’s highly unlikely to ever be released on DVD/Bluray these days, why? I think because a complete copy doesn’t exist, this copy, which I believe is the same that was shown in the Victor Fleming retrospective in 2010 is missing the ending and all the talkie sequences, the quality is OK, shows its age for sure, looks like there’s been a lot of nitrate decomposition, there’s no sound unfortunately but I don’t think it’s a big deal, the good news about this is that the complete original score is available on Youtube, if there’s anyone reading this skilled enough to somehow synchronize the soundtrack with the film let me know, I can re-post it again in the future with the score, that’d be great. Huge, huge thanks to the person who sent me this, I honestly have no words to express my gratitude, this is kind of films that I included on the Wanted list because I knew plenty of people were after them but that I never really expected anyone to ever send them, the day I got the email from the collector offering me this film (among others) I almost fall out of my chair, no kidding, Being able to share such rare movies like this one with everyone here it’s one of the reasons why I’m still going with this project, you guys have no idea how I get every time I see there’s a chance I might be able to get a super ultra rare film it’s a crazy feeling, I don’t know for how much longer I will keep going with the site but as long as these opportunities keep surfacing I think I’ll keep going. Enjoy everyone! and thank you for your continued support, it really means so much to me. Long live rarefilmm!
Nice one, Jon! Thanks!
You’re very welcome, James, nice to see you are still commenting here, thanks for the support! 🙂
Thank you so much! Amazing discovery.
Can you tell us the other rare titles and leave us dreaming? LOL
My pleasure, Eric! 🙂
And no, sorry, I can’t reveal any of the other titles coming but one that is coming very soon is a VERY rare Austrian-German silent film from the early 1920s. Stay tuned!
Jon, all your work is hugely appreciated and makes my world a brighter place. Thank you!
This is great stuff, Jon. Really appreciated. As a Cooper fan I regard this as the movie find of the year. When this film began Lupe Velez was the lover of the film’s director, Victor Fleming. When it ended Cooper was her lover in a torrid affair that would last two years.
Great to see this one available finally. I will watch it immediately. Now if only we could finally see Cooper’s The Spoilers (1930).
A nice little surprise.
I can’t tell you how excited I am to see this! I am, as you know, such a fan of early films and this is one I’ve wanted desperately to see! You are splendid!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
What a great find! Thank you so much for sharing this rarity. We owe you so much for your efforts & work, and if you do us to do or send some money, please just ask. Despite the rarity of this film, Jon, you are the real treasure!
Jon!
Just WOW! Amazing to finally see this rarity, no matter how long or short! I have already watched it and I am going to download ’cause you know some fuckhead is going to complain and make you take it down…. but again, thank you for keeping these films alive for the people that really love them.
That was a treat!. Appreciate it.
What happened to the sound? Nothing
a rare one! thanks!
Even without the soundtrack, i can still observe the movie and like it too. Havent seen it it before but its certainly been worth the wait. Thanks, Jon! You truly rock!
Really loved it. Emotional finish. 4 stars!
