Many thanks to Alex (@TheDukeMitchell) for the big help acquiring and digitizing this film from VHS, also to Chris for the partial funding, a very rare Malcolm McDowell film now available to stream and download for the first time ever here on rarefilmm.
I am loving these updates, like early Christmas presents! My dream is to see Crystal Gazing, Rocinante and the 80s British TV production of The Caucasian Chalk Circle. Either of those and it really would be Christmas!
Author John Fisher and others have identified British comedian Tony Hancock as the comedic version of Osborne’s “Jimmy Porter”, and indeed one episode of the radio series parodied this as “Look Back in Hunger’ by John Eastbourne, the Hungry Young Man”.
I’ve yet to see the 1959 version. I’ve a feeling it’s better than this one.
