Nana, the heroine of this movie, has only one chance at real love, with the good-looking ladies’ man Juan Carlos. In this film, based on Manuel Puig’s novel Heartbreak Tango, Nana is too shy to go to bed with him and reveal that she is not a virgin. When he discovers that he has tuberculosis, he is forced to leave town for an extended rest-cure, and when he returns, she has since married a wealthy man who takes her with him to glamorous Buenos Aires. Years after Juan Carlos’ death, she journeys with her children to the town where he died. In her old age, though, she has virtually forgotten their love.
Susana Campos plays the title role in Rosaura a las Diez. Actually, when the film begins, Rosaura is pretty much a figment of the imagination of mild-mannered Camilo. Using an old photograph, Camilo invents a sexy girlfriend so as to arouse the interest of his true love, his landlady’s daughter. And then one day, Rosaura shows up in the flesh, and Camilo is forced to marry her.
Nazareno Cruz is the seventh son of a couple living in a high mountain village. According to a myth, a seventh son will become a wolf on nights of the full moon. Everyone in the village is relieved when this doesn’t happen. The boy grows up and falls in love with a beautiful girl, Griselda. When he’s 20 years old, he is visited by the Devil, who offers him the wealth of the world if he will turn his back on his love for Griselda, and if he fails to do this, he will become a wolf.
