Jack Hulbert plays Martin, a straight-laced Parisian millionaire who falls in love with saucy chorus girl Jeannette. The plot requires that Martin pose as a reporter who is called upon by Jeannette to pose as her wealthy benefactor: in other words, he’s hired to impersonate himself!

Columbia’s Once to Every Woman was the first of A. J. Cronin’s medical novels to be adapted for the screen. The drama of the piece hinges on the conflict between brilliant young surgeon Barclay and crusty hospital head Dr. Selby. On another, less-crucial front, Barclay and playboy physician Preston vie for the attentions of pretty nurse Miss Farnshawe. The story comes to a tension-laden climax as Barclay prepares for a delicate brain operation — a revolutionary procedure which has been opposed by Dr. Selby throughout the picture. Once to Every Woman was scripted by frequent Frank Capra collaborator Jo Swerling.
Skid Johnson is a former soldier turned band leader finds his fortunes rise as his fame increases. Unfortunately, with the fame comes arrogance and Skid takes all the credit but forgets those friends who helped him along the way. He pretends to be a talent agent and that she is his new discovery. he promises to make her a stage star. He engages an out of work Gilbert & Sullivan troupe on a performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado in order to convince the girl that he is for real. All goes well and his scheme works. The only problem is that the girl now loves him, as does the entire, previously down on their luck troupe of players.
The body of an unknown beautiful woman is fished out of the river and leaves the policemen wondering what drove the girl to such a grisly fate. The film then flashes back to months before, showing the torrid love affair between a young cabaret singer and a rich playboy that ultimately results in tragedy for the girl.
Claire Trevor walks out on her fiance Lew Ayres in search of adventure. She gets more than she bargained for when she stumbles upon a gang of bootleggers. Ayres comes to the rescue with the help of a circus troupe. The film was based on “Man Eating Tiger”, an obscure play by Ben Hecht and Rose Caylor.
