Eva has just gotten married to an older gentleman, but discovers that he is obsessed with order in his life and doesn’t have much room for passion. She becomes despondent and leaves him, returning to her father’s house. One day while bathing in the lake she meets a young man and they fall in love. The husband has become grief stricken at the loss of his young bride, and fate brings him together with the young lover that has taken Eva from him.

Jimmy, a bookie cum horse buying agent, meets a beautiful dance hall girl. After leading him on, and out of his money, she rejects him. Jimmy hatches a scheme to wreak revenge on her. He pretends to be a talent agent and that she is his new discovery. he promises to make her a stage star. He engages an out of work Gilbert & Sullivan troupe on a performance of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Mikado in order to convince the girl that he is for real. All goes well and his scheme works. The only problem is that the girl now loves him, as does the entire, previously down on their luck troupe of players.
The body of an unknown beautiful woman is fished out of the river and leaves the policemen wondering what drove the girl to such a grisly fate. The film then flashes back to months before, showing the torrid love affair between a young cabaret singer and a rich playboy that ultimately results in tragedy for the girl.
Claire Trevor walks out on her fiance Lew Ayres in search of adventure. She gets more than she bargained for when she stumbles upon a gang of bootleggers. Ayres comes to the rescue with the help of a circus troupe. The film was based on “Man Eating Tiger”, an obscure play by Ben Hecht and Rose Caylor.

First World War. The young Englishman Lieutenant Raleigh is transferred into the regiment of the disilliusioned Captain Stanhope. Stanhope harbours a secret love for Raleigh’s sister and so tries to maintain the image of himself as the model officer. An advance against the German lines, in which Raleigh takes part, is a catastrophic bloodbath. As a result Raleigh is now aware of the horrific nature of war, which has overcome Stanhope too. When the Germans attack again, the English base is destroyed.
Two small town widows bring their children to Hollywood, where their children become competing film stars. The girl is sweet, the boy is a killjoy sissy. For publicity, the rival families go to London to meet a middle European boy King. The three kids decide they need to escape their stifling lives and run away to the docks and join a gang.
