Clara works a back-breaking factory job in a Milan slum to support her disabled husband, three children and carping mother-in-law. But when Clara is diagnosed as tubercular, she’s sent to a sanatorium in the Alps that proves the greatest vacation of her life. There she meets other patients who treat her with kindness, civility and an intellectual respect that is alien to her. When she falls for a handsome fellow patient, she wonders if she can ever return.

Bravo, Jon!
Hi Jon,
I know you or your ‘associates’ found this for me a few months back but thanks very much for the updated English subtitled version.
Lovely to have you back..
A great film film, not a single wasted frame.
Main actress is beauty in this film.
Saw this on the big screen on release and still very memorable. “carping mother-in-law” Seldom have I felt so much disgust for a movie character, but this woman just enraged me, her shrill whining over the mere idea that Clara may have to leave the home to literally save her life and leave poor lazy son to do the dishes himself.
