Two small-town sisters who’ve come to New York City for very different reasons find themselves competing for the affections of a brash magazine photographer.

Unfortunately, his single status presents a problem, and so he ends up getting engaged. The trouble begins when his fiance realizes that Cliff is really a slimeball.

After the local Japanese wives see how independent and self-reliant Peg and Debby are, they demand to have the same respect, rights and privileges as them. At a military Christmas party, the situation gets brought up and resolved.
When the debaucherous and womanizing ex-monarch King Alfred VII notices Dorothy Ellis, a chorus girl at the Folies Bergère, he asks his loyal subjects to invite her to his place. But the former king’s subjects take a liking to Ellis and conspire to bring the two together by convincing her to play hard to get. When Ellis finds herself falling for Alfred, she laments that he could never marry a commoner and makes up a lie that may complicate their plans.
A con man gives a lemon candy to a paralyzed millionaire, assuring that it will cure him, and convinces him to give him a hundred dollars to bet on a horse. Wally knows that the horse can not win, but he bets on it anyway and his partner runs away with the money. Wally marries and has a son, but the woman dies during childbirth. His partner appears, who has married his lifelong girlfriend, and offers to take care of the child, but also the millionaire reappears, who has cured his ailment. Life changes for Wally.
Cornelia and Emily, at college in the early 1920s, have triangle trouble with their beaus. Their affairs become entangled with those of a chance-met, kindly bootlegger. Much of the humor derives from pre-Roaring Twenties naivity.
Meg is a secretary in a motivational research firm. She arrives in New York and uses the firm’s resources to help land a husband. During house to house interviews, she gets caught in a raid of a local brothel and a series of comedic adventures follow.
