After watching the edited version of SWING SHIFT, and reading about what Hawn and Warner Brothers did to the film, I was amazed to find the Directors Cut on your site. But it stopped dead at 52 minutes, and I could not get it to move further. Help! I am fascinated by the edit, and hope there is some way to continue watching the film.

Now that Demme has died, there is little chance that his cut will ever see the light of day, so I’m sincerely hoping you can help me watch this to the end.

    Great site!

      Hey Jay.
Sorry about that, I assume you were streaming it and it froze? Please try again I uploaded it to a different site that works much better, you should be able to watch it in full now.

Let me know if the issue persist.

I cannot believe how much better this version is than the studio cut. What a shame this is not the released cut. None of the changes made sense, and ironically, made Kay’s character much less likable and relatable. Thank you so much for posting this!

I’ve waited a long time to see this version and am utterly amazed how much better it is. I was a young 21 year old student when I saw the release and didn’t much like the jingoism and Reagan appealing pulp that the movie seemed to represent. This version has all the lovely earmarks that made Demme such a great director. Thank you for posting this and making it available to movielovers.

As Jonathan Demme is my favorite filmmaker, knowing this version was somewhere out there I purposely never watched the theatrical version, hoping one day I could see Swing Shift the way he intended.

It was such a pleasure discovering this website and this film. Thank you for posting it. I look forward to watching many others on rarefilmm from now on.

Finally watched this! Decided to watch as much Demme as I could, partly because I’ve always loved him as a filmmaker, but also because the Blank Check podcast is going to be covering his filmography soon. I’d seen the theatrical version of this years ago, but I barely remember it. Probably going to have to re-watch that now, just so I can better discern what the differences are.
